How to Make Tea 1. Boil enough water in a tea kettle. The water quality directly affects the taste of tea. If your tap water tastes good, use it. If it doesn't, run it through a filter first. Do what you can to make sure the water is as fresh and pure as possible to bring out the best tea it can. The better taste your water, the better taste your tea. 2. Warm the teapot or mugs. This will prevent the steeping water from dropping in temperature too fast. Add a little boiling water to a tea pot or the individual cups where the tea will be steeped. Let it stand for a short while, swirl it around, and then pour out the water and proceed immediately to the next step. 3. Add the tea. Put the tea in an infuser, strainer, or directly in the bottom of the tea pot. The amount of loose tea you use will depend on the type and strength of the tea, as well as your individual taste. The chart below is a general guideline on the amount of tea and water temperature used to steep a cup of tea. If you desire stronger flavor, add more tea. Don't steep longer.
5. Serve the tea. Remove the tea leaves from the pot if you have a strainer or infuser, or pour the liquid into another vessel with a strainer to catch any tea leaves. Tea can be served with lemon or milk, and sugar or honey for sweetness, or just plain. To make Iced Tea, double the amount of tea and the brewing time. Pour hot tea over ice and enjoy! The above are simply guidelines. Feel free to experiment and find your own method. Remember, as long as you enjoy your tea, you're doing it correctly! |
